I am Ramadan; I only come once every year. I travel between countries and neighborhoods, visiting every street and every house. But this year is different!! As I came, I visited a lonely city. Yes! I have reached Gaza.
Its citizens are more like skeletons falling apart like tree leaves during the fall; its houses made out pf plastic flood with every drop of rain, with no roofs to protect and no walls to cover. I walked between its tents, listening to the moans of infants asking for a sip of milk, its children, and its elderlies using tree leaves as food to fill up their stomachs after a drought. I ran towards the mosques to find the people praying Taraweeh, and I found them under the rubble of the destroyed minarets. I tried to find one survivor! But with no result...The people who were here were marytered, and those who survived are waiting for the deadly, inevitable hunger!
You were happy that I arrived, and you prepared yourself well. You decorated the streets and the halls, and soon you will prepare tables where you and your family will gather... But there, in Gaza, are people who can’t find anything to break their continuous fast and can’t find any mosques to pray Taraweeh at... It’s just the sound of the people remaining calling, “Allah suffices me, for he is the best disposer of affairs,” so the people in the seven skies hear them. I know that humanity didn’t accept the cries of a starving newborn baby who was born without a doctor or a nurse and was extracted from the uterus, destined to be an orphan his whole life. Will you leave them at the mercy of hunger and deficiencies???!! They deprived them of reaching out for aid of all kinds! Until fodder became their main meal, if it was found! Will you leave them there without me? Without Ramadan??
